The Muses Behind My Musings

Humility tells me that those reading this already know who I am, as you are likely only my family and close friends. Ego hopes that a great mass of kindred souls will find their way here and invest a moment to learn what makes me move!

I am a writer.  I have worked at many other things, some related, some not, and my paycheck and health insurance have not always come from, strictly speaking, a writing task.  I have enjoyed those other pursuits, still do, and believe strongly that dynamic experiences, both wild and mundane, whether in an office at 2 PM on a Thursday or on a mountain top with wine and arctic are competing to temper the blood, are important and valuable to the human experience. 

But, I am a writer.  Yes I have 2 writing degrees, and yes I have written professionally.  But when I say I am a writer I mean it in the same way I would say I am a woman, or I am a daughter, or I am an introvert.  It is part of construct of who I am, and whether I practice it daily or spend years removed from the regular action, I am and will always be a writer.

This site is going to be my work-in-progress, fledgling attempt at putting some left-brain focus around my writing pursuits.  I hope to collect an archive of old creative writing, add new musings in both blog, poem, and story form, and answer requests for prose on whatever topics both I and the requestor happen to jive upon.

I'm both excited and nervous to launch this site.  I'm hoping I can contribute something to the world by sharing more of myself.  I'm hoping I can maintain some much needed discipline around activity of writing.  I'm hoping I can decide how to channel this part of me into something productive, fulfilling, magnanimous, and perhaps, finally, prosperous.
